If x and y are non-zero integers, is x = y ?
(1) (x-25)^2 = (y-25)^2
(2) x/y = y/x
I have been told that (x-25)^2 = (y-25)^2 is the same as (x-25) = (y-25)
In my defence, if I think x^2 = y^2 is the same as x=y , isn't thinking 9^2 = 5^2 the same thing?
